आगरा में धनतेरस के लिए बाजार सज गए हैं। बर्तन, स्वर्ण आभूषण और वाहनों की दुकानों को आकर्षक तरीके से सज्जित किया गया है, लालच देने वाली अनेक उपहार व छूट योजनाओं की घोषणा की गई हैं। कार्तिक कृष्ण पक्ष की त्रयोदशी को धनतेरस पर्व मनाया जाता है और इसी दिन से 5 दिवसीय शुभ दीपावली पर्व प्रारम्भ हो जाता है। 25 अक्तूबर 2019 से धनतेरस,छोटी दीपावली,बड़ी दीपावली, गोवर्धनपूजा और भाई दूज क्रमशः मनाए जाएंगे।

कार्तिक कृष्ण पक्ष की त्रयोदशी को भगवान धनवंतरि समुद्र मंथन में कलश लेकर प्रकट हुए थे इसलिए इस तिथि को बर्तन खरीदने की परम्परा है। माना जाता है कि धनतेरस के दिन जितनी खरीदारी की जाती है उसमें घर में धन धान्य व सामान में 13 गुना वृद्धि होती है।

धनवंतरि जी:

जब देवता और दानव मंदार पर्वत को मथनी बनाकर वासुकी नाग की मदद से समुद्र का मंथन कर रहे थे, तब 13 रत्नों के बाद कार्तिक कृष्ण पक्ष की त्रयोदशी को 14वें रत्न के रूप में धनवंतरि अमृत कलश के साथ प्रकट हुए थे। धनवंतरि के प्रकट होते ही अमृत कलश के लिए देवताओं और दानवों के बीच छीना-झपटी शुरू हो गई लेकिन भगवान विष्णु ने मोहिनी रूप धरकर अमृत कलश हासिल कर लिया। इसीलिए धनतेरस पर धनवंतरि देव की पूजा होती है। इनको आयुर्वेद का आचार्य भी कहा जाता है। ये देवताओं के वैद्य हैं। देव धनवंतरि को लक्ष्मी का भाई भी माना जाता है।

धनवंतरि अमृत यानी जीवन का वरदान लेकर प्रकट हुए थे और आयुर्वेद के जानकार भी थे, इसलिए उन्हें आरोग्य का देवता माना जाता है। धनवंतरी देवताओं के चिकित्सक हैं और चिकित्सा के देवता माने जाते हैं इसलिए चिकित्सकों के लिए धनतेरस का दिन बहुत ही महत्व पूर्ण होता है। ऐसी मान्यता है कि भगवान धनवंतरी विष्णु के अंशावतार हैं। वैसे तो धन और दौलत की देवी लक्ष्मी देती हैं, लेकिन उनकी कृपा पाने के लिए सेहत और लंबी आयु की जरूरत होती है। यही वजह है कि धनतेरस के मौके पर धनवंतरि की पूजा की जाती है।

धनतेरस के दिन नई चीजें खरीदना पुरानी परंपरा है। इस परंपरा का हिंदू धर्म में खास महत्व है। इस दिन चांदी के सिक्के, चांदी के लक्ष्मी-गणेश, बर्तन व नए वाहन खरीदने की भी परंपरा है। चांदी को चन्द्रमा का प्रतीक माना जाता है जो शीतलता प्रदान करता है। यह स्वास्थ्यकारक भी माना गया है जो निरोगी काया और तेज़ दिमाग देता है। चंद्रमा के प्रभाव से मन में संतोष के धन का वास होता है और इसे सबसे बड़ा धन कहा गया है।जिसके पास संतोष और स्वास्थ्य है, उसी को सबसे धनवान माना जाता है।

इस दिन सोना और चांदी जैसी धातुओं को खरीदना अच्छा माना जाता है। इस मौके पर लोग धन की वर्षा के लिए नए बर्तन और आभूषण खरीदते हैं। ऐसी मान्यता है कि धातु नकारात्मक ऊर्जा को खत्म करती है। यहां तक कि धातु से आने वाली तरंगे भी थेराप्यूटिक प्रभाव पैदा करती है। इसलिए धनतेरस पर सोना और चांदी खरीदन परंपरा सदियों से चली आ रही है। हालांकि इस मौके पर सिर्फ सोने और चांदी की ही नहीं बल्कि कई अन्य सामान भी लोग खरीदते हैं। कई लोग इस मौके पर मोटर साईकिल अथवा कार लेना भी पसंद करते हैं। धनतेरस की शाम घर के बाहर मुख्य द्वार पर और आंगन में दीप जलाने की प्रथा भी है।
